John J. Dusel

John J. Dusel was a first class passenger on the Valencia heading to Seattle. Little was known about John Dusel in the weeks after the Valencia disaster. It wasn't until March that his mysterious life was discovered when a woman from San Francisco claimed to be his wife and began legal action to secure his estate. Dusel apparently never told anybody about his life and was known in Seattle as a single man. Soon it was revealed that he was a rich Austrian with real estate in San Francisco and mining interests in Arizona. His estate was estimated at a half million dollars. The woman claiming to be Dusel's wife was not identified by name and it is not known if she was successful in her claim. Dusel's body was never recovered.
