Albert Johnson

Albert Johnson was a quartermaster's mate on the Valencia and did not survive. Timothy McCarthy, boatswain on the Valencia and survivor later testified that Albert Johnson was the Quartermaster in charge of the Valencia when the ship struck. That appears to be the only mention of him during the disaster and it is unknown how or when he lost his life. Just four years previously he was one of the survivors of the sinking of the steamship Walla Walla. He escaped the sinking ship on a lifeboat and later picked up by another ship. He lived in San Francisco at 328 Drumm Street with roommates also part of Valencia's crew.
