Passenger registered as T. Simpson was later discovered to be a fake name used by Lulu Rowland. Roy Hazard, 21, Mabel Rowland and her sister Lulu Rowland, 16, were travelling from LA using fake names. The two girls went as “Misses T Martin and T Simpson.” In the weeks after the Valencia disaster newspapers would report that Roy Hazard's father was "under indictment in Los Angeles on a statutory charge preferred by Lulu May Rowland, 16 years of age..." Young Hazard, in company with Lulu Rowland and her sister Mabel, fled from Los Angeles about three weeks ago and took passage on the Valencia from San Francisco under assumed names..." Hazard's father, a Los Angeles real estate broker is out on a $3000 bond and will return to stand trial. He and the father of the Lulu and Mabel Rowland came to Victoria in early February to identify the bodies of Lulu and Roy. Mabel's body was never recovered, though newspapers frequently mixed up the names and reported Mabel's body found and even identified.
