U.C. Rosenberg
U.C. Rosenberg was a second-class passenger on the Valencia travelling with her daughter Iva Shaver and Bert Parker. Shaver and Parker were planning on getting married soon after arriving in Seattle and making their home there with Mrs. Rosenberg's brother. The San Francisco Call newspaper reported on January 25th, 1906:
"Only a few months ago Mrs. Rosenberg was in comfortable financial circumstances, owned considerable realty in this city, and her daughter had lucrative employment. The mother went into a real estate deal, which terminated unfortunately, and in the litigation which followed she lost the property and was left practically without means. Her daughter became ill and the mother was unable to care for her. Mrs. Rosenberg's brother whose home is in Seattle, invited them to make their home with him and they accepted. Mrs. Rosenberg's son received a telegram from Seattle today stating that his mother and sister were on the wrecked vessel, but no tidings of them had been received."
